The compact SUV class is hyper-competitive, but few have been as competitive as long as the Toyota RAV4 has. Almost 30 years after its introduction, the RAV4 continues to be one of the most innovative SUVs in its segment, constantly evolving. The 2025 Toyota RAV4 comes with several powertrains – including the RAV4 Hybrid – and plenty of trim levels to choose from, meaning there is something for everyone!

Three different powertrains are available in the 2025 Toyota RAV4. The standard powertrain, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, makes 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Available in front- and all-wheel drive, the fuel economy ranges from 25 MPG city and 33 MPG highway up to 27 MPG city and 35 MPG highway.

The standard RAV4 hybrid powertrain features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. It provides a slight power upgrade to 219 combined system horsepower, while improving fuel economy, with models getting anywhere from 38 MPG city and 35 MPG highway to 41 MPG city and 38 MPG highway.

Plug-in hybrid – PHEV – versions of the RAV4 feature an 18.1-kWh battery capable of providing 42 miles of all-electric range paired with a 2.5-liter engine. It has eight drive modes and 302 net combined horsepower. The battery comes with a 6.6-kW onboard charger that can be fully charged on 240V power in a little over 2 hours. On the road, the RAV4 PHEV gets 40 MPG city and 36 MPG highway, 94 MPG.

Seven years into the most recent generation, the RAV4 received a mid-generation refresh that continues to look fresh years later, sporting a truck-like and aggressive front end that is in line with the Tundra and Tacoma pick-ups. The brawny grille and angular sheet metal offers a modern look without being too trendy or futuristic.

Inside the 2025 Toyota RAV4, there’s a mix of cargo space along with seating for five, surrounded by smart and durable materials. Up front, there’s 37.7 inches of headroom and 41 inches of legroom, while rear seat passengers get 39.5 inches of headroom and 37.8 inches of legroom, plenty for adults to be comfortable.

An 8-inch touchscreen display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration is standard, while a 10.5 inch display is optional. SiriusXM satellite radio is standard, with a three-month trial subscription. An 11-speaker JBL Premium Audio system features a subwoofer and amplifier and is available on top-level trims. Bluetooth hands-free phone with voice recognition is standard, and the controls are mounted on the steering wheel. For media and charging, three USB ports are standard with up to five available, while Qi-compatible wireless charging is optional.

The Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 system is standard on every version of the 2025 Toyota RAV4, with driver assistance system including Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beams, Proactive Driving Assist, and Road Sign Assist. Every version has at least a Backup Camera with projected path – higher trim levels get the Panoramic View Monitor, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

There are seven trims available on the 2025 Toyota RAV4, with 13 total combinations of trims and powertrains.

The base LE trim sits on 17-inch wheels and comes with either gas power or standard hybrid drivetrains. Dual-zone automatic climate control provides comfort for passengers, and all the seating is covered in cloth upholstery – front seats are manually adjustable. Remote keyless entry is standard.

Stepping up to the XLE trim build on the LE, upgrading to a power-adjustable driver’s seat. Push-button start and proximity keyless entry make it easier to get in and get on the road. Heated mirrors provide convenience in the winters, and the available Weather package adds in heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, while the Convenience package adds a power liftgate.

Available only with the standard hybrid powertrain, the Woodland Edition builds on the XLE trim and is geared towards the rough roads and being outdoorsy. This includes off-road suspension tuning and Toyota Racing Development components including 18-inch bronze-colored alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. LED fog lights show the way, while a 120-volt household-style power point in the cargo area is perfect for bringing comfort and convenience off-road. The Weather package is optional.

The SE trim is available with the standard hybrid or PHEV powertrains and builds on the XLE trim. Unique 18-inch alloy wheels provide a sporty flair, while a tuned suspension provides sportier handling. Inside, the steering wheel and shift knob get leather trim.

The XLE Premium trim makes the power liftgate standard, and the cabin gets a moonroof to open it up. Synthetic leather upholstery adds a touch of luxury, while the JBL sound system is standard. The Advanced Technology package adds wireless charging and parking sensors with automatic braking.

Also available only with the hybrid powertrains, the XSE builds on the SE with blue ambient interior lighting, in-dash storage trays, and Sof-Tex synthetic leather-trimmed seats with blue stitching. The front seats are heated, with the driver’s seat having 8-way power adjustability. It’s upgraded to the 10.5-inch touch screen, while the available Advanced Technology package adds a hands-free power liftgate and driver’s seat memory settings.

At the top of the model range, the Limited trim is available with the gas-powered or standard hybrid powertrain. The passenger’s seat gets four-way power adjustability, while both front seats get ventilation added. The Weather package is still available and adds heated rear seats on this trim.
