Tips on Saving Gas
When you’re behind the wheel, the last thing you want is to be making frequent stops at the gas station. Here are some tips on saving gas:
- Easy on the gas pedal
Stop-and-go driving and jackrabbit starts can decrease your mileage by as much as 33% on the highway. The easier you are on the gas and brake, the better your fuel economy.
- Routine maintenance
Following your car’s recommended maintenance schedule keeps everything functioning properly and maximizes your efficiency.
- Take care of your tires
Making sure your tires have the proper inflation is essential to saving gas. Check them regularly with a pressure gauge. It’s good to keep them a little underinflated in high temperatures and slightly overinflated in lower temperatures.
- Clean, clean, clean
The more weight you have on or in your car, the harder your engine has to work, which decreases your fuel efficiency. De-clutter your car to improve your efficiency.
- Plan your day
Need to stop at the grocery store? Grab a bite with friends? Plan spots to and from your way to work, or pick spots near each other. A little planning can go a long way.
